The Types of Biomes
We have already understood the basic foundation and purpose of a biome. Now, let's come to its classifications, that include five of kind:
i) Aquatic: large and small water bodies of the planet such as the oceans, lakes, ponds, seas and rivers.π
ii) Grassland: these are usually open dominated regions with grass and a warm climate.

iii) Forest: these areas are dominated by trees and cover one-third of Earth. They contain much of the World's biodiversity.

iv) Desert: these are dry areas where rainfall is less than 50 centimeters per year. They usually have an extreme climate where day is hot and night is frigid. The biodiversity found has different features for acclimatization and adaptation.

v) Tundra: This biome has one of the most inhospitable conditions as it has the lowest measured temperatures from among all the five biomes. Click here to learn more about it.
These biomes, as per their nature, can also be further divided into specific categories such as:
i) Freshwater

ii) Marine
π
iii) Savanna
π
iv) Tropical Rainforest

v) Temperate Rainforest

vi) Taiga
