Ecology

When we come to one of the major departments of science, that is ecology, we bring every object which is biotic, in question. Scientifically, ecology is a department of biology that involves the study of relationships between living organisms including humans and their environment. It also seeks to observe the vital connections between plants and animals and the world around them. It has a crucial role in our lives- it helps us to understand the world around us in a better way. The major goal of ecology is the distribution of biotic and abiotic factors of living organisms in the environment. Biotic factors are the living components of an ecosystem such as the microorganisms, humans, plants, etc. , whereas abiotic factors are the non-living physical and chemical components of the ecosystem like sunlight, air, moisture soil, etc.

Importance of Ecology

Ecology holds great significance in every humans’ life while being on earth. It’s contribution to this planet includes:
  1. Ecology helps us understand our actions on the environment. If they are impacting it adversely, then we also comprehend the depth of the conservation of our ecosystem required. But if we remain oblivious to ecology, some species of organisms might become endangered and extinct. That’s why, ecology can help us preserve the biotic and abiotic factors of our environment.
  2. It updates us on resource allocation. We become aware of the necessary resources for different organisms. Without this study, there might be a deprivation of resources on this planet.
  3. We all need energy for the basic life processes which makes it exceptionally important. Ecology basically helps us apprehend the various energy types procured for our daily activities such as the solar energy from Sun, the tidal energy, etc.
We hope you understood the crux of ecology and we learning 'Mystic Scientists' can drive along its sub-department called Biomes.
